Our Mission Statement

The Mission of Building Blocks Childcare, LLC is to provide a nurturing, educational
environment where children can feel safe, respected, and supported in their efforts to explore,
experiment, interact, and learn. A developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the
individual needs of the child is used so each child can blossom and grow intellectually, socially,
emotionally and physically. It is also our mission to respect and support each family and to
encourage family involvement at the center as well as in the education of their children.

Our Goals

The goals of our center begin with supporting the families and the needs of each developing
child. We strive for happy, relaxed children who are actively engaged in developmentally
appropriate exploration. We create a program which is a balance of active and quiet activities
both indoor and out, of large and small motor skills, of group and individual play, of creative
expressions, communication with adults and other children, and of child-initiated and teacher-
initiated learning and play.
Each child is treated with affection and respect. Our goal is to foster positive self-concept, self-
help skills, and respect of others and of property. We set developmentally appropriate limits and
use positive guidance techniques to help children feel safe and secure while in our care.
Our goal is to document how each child develops through the use of a portfolio, which may
include but not limited to, anecdotal notes, photos, and samples of artwork throughout the year.
Each piece of information will show a developmental milestone, and a goal or a step toward a

new accomplishment. The portfolio will cover all aspects of each child’s growth including
physical, emotional, social, and intellectual.
Our goal is to bring the administration, teachers, and families together to improve the quality of
the center and to meet the needs of the children. We encourage our teaching staff to expand
their knowledge of child development, current childcare trends, professionalism, and to set new
professional goals each year.
