Thank you for your interest in working with us at Building Blocks Childcare LLC. We start staff at $11 an hr. There are 3 required courses all staff must complete in their 1st 6 months of employment to meet state requirements. Each course completed and passed will increase your wage by $1.00, so after all 3 are complete you will make $14 an hour. (The center helps you obtain the courses). A staff health report and CPR course are also required (paid for by the center). We support the TEACH Scholarship after 6 months of employment for staff interested in continuing their education in the field. The center hours are 6am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday. We offer an opening and closing differential for staff that work the opening or closing shifts. After 6 months of employment staff receive paid holidays. We are closed most major holidays. Vacation time is earned after 1 year of employment. Sick pay begins to accrue after your 90-day probation period. All staff must pass a background check that requires fingerprinting. We will help set everything up for potential staff. Once the background check is passed, we can set up an orientation and begin working with us. Training is done hands on throughout the workday. We train staff by doing, rather than just verbally. This allows us to help ensure licensing is being followed, while correcting any mistakes along the way. We want to be a team and work together.
Due to the type of work, we do with children, we need staff to be reliable, timely, and flexible. We are a small center, and we are as flexible as we can be about time requested off. We normally have a day of the week where numbers are low and have the option of a sub so we can make appointments as needed. We ask for 2 weeks in advance notice of appointments as most employers do. Parents rely on us to care for their children, and one of the biggest perks of being a group center is when someone is off, or sick we have another staff to cover the room. We are open when area schools close due to the weather, as families still need to work. Our job can be stressful, fun, and very rewarding. Every day is a new day.
If you are interested in coming in for a work interview, we schedule them while the children are engaging in play and want to see how you interact with them, and them with you. After spending some time in the classrooms, we sit down and chat a bit to go over some interview questions. Any questions you have at that time are encouraged.
